German police assaulted pro-Palestine demonstrators at Berlin’s Alexanderplatz station during a peaceful gathering held in support of Gaza’s civilians and calling for an end to the Israeli occupation genocide in the besieged enclave. Witnesses reported that police forces violently intervened as protesters gathered with Palestinian flags and banners demanding a ceasefire and an end to the killing of civilians in Gaza.
According to video footage shared from the scene, police officers were seen pushing, grabbing, and forcefully detaining several demonstrators, including women, as the crowd chanted slogans in solidarity with Palestine. The gathering, which had been organized to highlight the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and demand German action to stop the genocide, quickly turned chaotic after police moved in to disperse the crowd.
Activists present at Alexanderplatz said the police response was disproportionate and aimed at silencing pro-Palestine voices in Germany. They accused authorities of systematically cracking down on any show of solidarity with Gaza while allowing pro-Israel demonstrations to proceed without interference. Several protesters were reportedly detained, and at least one person was injured during the assault.
The incident is the latest in a series of crackdowns on pro-Palestine activism across Germany, where authorities have imposed strict restrictions on demonstrations in support of Gaza since the start of the Israeli occupation genocide. Rights groups have repeatedly condemned Berlin’s stance, saying it violates freedom of speech and assembly and shields the ongoing genocide in Gaza from public criticism.
