Iranian lawmakers accuse Israel of being behind the deadly explosion at Bandar Abbas port.

Bandar Abbas, Iran — As the dust settles over the shattered remains of Shahid Rajaee Port, the Iranian government is making it clear: this was no accident. According to prominent Iranian lawmaker Mohammad Seraj, the devastating explosion that killed at least 40 and wounded nearly 1,000 was a calculated act of sabotage — and all signs, he claims, point to Israel.

In a now-deleted interview with Rokna News, Seraj minced no words, declaring that the attack showed “clear signs of the Zionist entity’s involvement.” He pointed to damning evidence: explosions occurring at four different points simultaneously across the port, a pattern highly inconsistent with any ordinary chemical accident.
“Chemical materials usually explode in a single location and do not cause multiple explosions at several points simultaneously,” Seraj explained.

He stressed that the nature and scale of the blasts suggested pre-planted explosives — an operation that could only have been carried out with sophisticated planning, inside knowledge, and the resources of a hostile intelligence service.

Seraj further theorized that the explosives could have entered Iran under the guise of legitimate cargo, tampered with during export, transit, or even via internal collaborators — a chilling suggestion that has sparked serious concerns about infiltration and security breaches at Iran’s vital trade arteries.

Though Iranian authorities have yet to formally announce the results of their ongoing investigation, the rapid deletion of Seraj’s interview from the media has fueled speculation that the government is scrambling to control the narrative before issuing a broader accusation against Israel — a country Iran has long accused of waging covert warfare inside its borders.

The Shahid Rajaee Port, one of Iran’s most important economic lifelines, handles a significant portion of the country’s imports and exports. The attack’s strategic impact is massive, both economically and psychologically. It strikes not only at Iran’s infrastructure but also at its national pride, delivering a brutal message that even its most critical assets are vulnerable.

Observers note that Israel has, in the past, been linked to a series of covert operations against Iran, including cyberattacks on nuclear facilities, assassinations of key scientists, and mysterious explosions at military and industrial sites.

If Tehran confirms direct Israeli involvement in the Bandar Abbas port blast, it could mark a dangerous escalation — one that would demand a forceful response.

Already, influential voices inside Iran are calling for retaliation. Hardline newspapers have published fiery editorials warning of “severe revenge” and “an end to Zionist arrogance.” Social media across the region is ablaze with speculation about how Iran might hit back — through cyberattacks, proxy strikes, or even direct military action.

For now, the Iranian leadership remains officially cautious, but the message from the streets of Bandar Abbas to the corridors of power in Tehran is clear: this was not an accident, and someone must pay.

As investigations continue and tensions spike, the world watches anxiously — because if Tehran acts on its fury, this explosion may not be the last.
