An Israeli occupation drone strike reportedly targeted a gathering of students on the campus of the Islamic University in Gaza City on Sunday, wounding five students, according to local reports.
The reports state that the drone dropped a bomb in the courtyard area where students were gathered. Medical sources accompanying the reports said that some of the wounded are in critical condition.
The Islamic University announced the suspension of academic and administrative activities at its Gaza branch for today, Sunday, following the strike, according to a statement circulating from the university administration.
Independent confirmation of the casualty toll and the extent of injuries remains unavailable in the sources reviewed. There is also insufficient information at this time to establish the type of munition used or the precise damage to university facilities.
The report comes amid continued Israeli aggression across the Gaza Strip. The Islamic University of Gaza, founded in 1978, is one of the largest higher education institutions in the enclave and has sustained extensive damage to its buildings during the genocide.
