Orthodox Israeli Settlers Protest Against Their Own Settler Government in Occupied Al Quds.

Ultra Orthodox Jewish settlers protest against the Israeli occupation government in occupied AlQuds.

Thousands of ultra-Orthodox Israeli settlers took to the streets in one of the largest demonstrations in recent years, protesting against the Zionist regime’s push to enforce compulsory military service within their community. The vast crowds stretching across main roads and city squares voiced their defiance with chants of “Better death than the army,” framing the draft as a direct assault on their faith and religious identity. Police struggled to control the mass gathering as protesters conducted public prayers and blocked major intersections, bringing large parts of occupied Al Quds to a standstill.

The dispute’s roots go back decades, tied to long-standing exemptions granted to ultra-Orthodox men devoted to full-time religious study in Yeshivas. These exemptions were a key pillar in the political alliance between Haredi parties and successive Zionist governments. However, repeated rulings by the so-called “Israeli” Supreme Court have declared these privileges discriminatory, insisting that all citizens, religious or secular, must share the burden of military service. To the Haredi leadership, however, this move represents not equality but an existential threat to their way of life and faith.

Tensions reached a boiling point in recent weeks after several ultra-Orthodox youths were detained for draft evasion, sparking outrage across Haredi communities. In response, senior rabbis and religious leaders called for mass demonstrations, which rapidly grew into a unified protest across multiple Haredi factions. The demonstrators demanded that the regime retract its plans and reaffirm their right to dedicate their lives solely to Torah study. While most protests remained non-violent, isolated clashes with police and arrests were reported, further highlighting the growing divide within “Israeli” society.

Politically, the unrest poses a major challenge to Prime Minister Netanyahu’s fragile coalition, which heavily relies on ultra-Orthodox parties. Open conflict with them threatens to fracture the alliance that sustains his government, potentially plunging the Zionist regime into yet another political crisis. Analysts warn that this internal strife exposes widening cracks in a system already under immense strain, facing international condemnation for its crimes in Gaza and growing domestic anger over economic hardship and misgovernance.

Beyond politics, the standoff reveals deeper fractures within the settler entity itself. The spectacle of Jews protesting against their own settler government underscores how Zionism has sown division even among its followers. While the regime claims to stand as a “united homeland,” these scenes of religious settlers defying the state’s authority expose the contradictions and moral decay within Zionist ideology.

For now, the regime faces a precarious balancing act: trying to satisfy secular demands for equality while avoiding a full rupture with its religious base. With protests showing no sign of slowing and court pressure for a uniform draft law mounting, occupied Al Quds has once again become a stage for internal turmoil. The ongoing confrontation serves as a stark reminder that even within the Zionist project, unity is an illusion, its followers now turning against one another in a struggle born of the very injustices their system was built upon.
