In a major diplomatic development, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a high-level telephone call with senior Hamas political bureau official Bassem Naim to discuss the latest updates regarding ongoing US-Iran negotiations and the Palestinian cause. The discussion focused heavily on utilizing Tehran’s current diplomatic channels to challenge Israel’s persistent operations in the blockaded strip.

During the call, Naim conveyed the Hamas leadership’s congratulations to Iran on securing its recent framework agreement with the United States. He praised Tehran’s steadfastness in confronting US-Israeli pressure, stressing that uninterrupted Iranian political and material support remains vital for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

In response, Araghchi thanked the movement for its backing and reaffirmed the Islamic Republic’s permanent commitment to supporting the Palestinian people until they fully realize their legitimate national rights. He emphasized that forcing a halt to the war and preventing the systematic elimination of the Palestinian presence, especially in Gaza, requires broad and immediate international political mobilization.

Crucially, Araghchi informed Naim that Iran’s negotiating delegation has actively weaponized its diplomatic leverage in direct talks with mediators and the US side. Tehran has formally raised Israel’s ongoing ceasefire violations, military operations, and the situation in Gaza as core issues during the diplomatic process.

By integrating the crisis into its broader negotiations with Washington, Tehran aims to ensure that any potential regional de-escalation framework directly accounts for the situation on the ground in Palestine. Araghchi concluded by assuring the Hamas leadership that Iran will continue to aggressively press the issue of Gaza and hold the occupation accountable throughout every phase of the international diplomatic process.
