Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has condemned Ansarallah’s attacks on shipping in the Red Sea and expressed Ankara’s full support for the Saudi-led multinational maritime defense coalition during a phone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The attacks condemned by Erdogan are part of Ansarallah’s stated campaign against Saudi Arabia, which the group says is a response to Saudi military operations and what it describes as continued aggression against Yemen. Ansarallah has maintained that its naval operations are intended to impose a “blockade for blockade” and has vowed to continue targeting vessels linked to Saudi Arabia until its objectives are met.
During the call, Erdogan welcomed the formation of the Saudi-led coalition and wished it success in carrying out its mission. The coalition was established in response to escalating maritime tensions in the Red Sea, where Ansarallah has carried out repeated attacks on commercial and military-linked vessels.
According to SPA, the two leaders also discussed the latest regional developments, including the evolving security situation in West Asia. They reviewed bilateral relations and explored opportunities to expand cooperation across political, economic, and security sectors.
Erdogan’s endorsement of the coalition signals Turkey’s alignment with Saudi Arabia on maritime security at a time of growing instability in one of the world’s most strategically important shipping corridors. The Red Sea has become a major flashpoint as military tensions continue to intensify.
