In a powerful and wide-ranging address, the leader of Yemen’s Ansarallah movement has launched a blistering attack on Saudi Arabia, accusing Riyadh of lying about Yemen, betraying Palestine, and strangling the Yemeni people with a 12-year siege under American Israeli supervision.
Dismissing Saudi accusations that Yemeni forces targeted Mecca as a “huge, vile and extremely shameful lie,” the leader of the resistance said the claim is part of a long-running propaganda war aimed at distorting the image and identity of the Yemeni people.
“Some countries express grief for the holy places, while the reality is that these same countries are withdrawing from the sanctities of Muslims and leaving the Muslim Ummah alone,” he said.
In his most direct attack, the houthi leader accused Riyadh and its allies of selling out the Palestinian cause for material interests.
“What have you really done for the Palestinian cause? You provided trillions of dollars, which were used to arm the Israeli enemy,” he stated.
He went further, directly linking Saudi oil supplies to the war in Gaza:
“You provided oil, while the fuel you provided allowed Israeli planes to fly and kill the Palestinian people.”
Challenging the narrative on who threatens Islam’s holy sites, he argued: “The real threat to the holy sites is the Jewish Zionist enemy, who has a clear position regarding his plans. But you are trying to shift the focus to those who are more sincere and steadfast in defending this Ummah and its holy sites.”
He said the relations of certain regional countries with the Saudi government are not based on Islamic solidarity but on “material interests and petrodollars.”
Turning to the war on Yemen, the leader said Yemen has endured “continuous aggression and a cruel siege” now in its 12th year, with American supervision and Zionist support.
He accused Saudi Arabia of exploiting the recent de-escalation period, saying Riyadh “did not make serious progress towards peace, but used this period to tighten its sanctions and build up military forces.”
Stressing that resistance is acting in self-defense, he said: “We are in a position of necessary defense. We did not initiate the aggression against Saudi Arabia.”
He identified the ongoing blockade as the central issue, stating that “the siege remains one of our main problems with the Saudi enemy, who insists on closing airports and imposing unjust restrictions on imported goods.”
He concluded that alongside military aggression and economic siege, “False propaganda and serious accusations were also an important part of the Saudi aggression against our people, which aimed to distort their reputation and identity.”
