The United States is preparing to deploy additional troops and aircraft to the Israeli occupation in the coming weeks amid preparations for a possible regional escalation, Israeli outlet Walla reported. The report comes as tensions between Washington and Tehran remain high and U.S military forces continue to expand their presence across West Asia.
According to Walla, around 3,000 US military personnel are currently stationed across the Israeli occupation. Their roles reportedly include operating air defense systems, as well as pilots, support crews, logistics personnel and staff working at military headquarters.
The U.S military has also been conducting routine troop rotations in recent weeks as previously deployed units complete their assignments. However, Walla reported that additional personnel and aircraft are expected to arrive in the coming weeks as part of preparations for a possible escalation.
The reported buildup comes amid a broader increase in U.S military deployments across West Asia. Recent reports indicate that Washington is moving additional naval assets and thousands of personnel toward the region, including the deployment of another aircraft carrier and a Marine expeditionary force.
Israeli occupation security officials are closely monitoring upcoming elections in both Israel and the United States. One unnamed senior security official claimed that regional adversaries could attempt to influence the political situation through attacks while avoiding a wider escalation, adding that the Israeli response would be “extremely aggressive.”
According to the report, the Israeli occupation military is simultaneously preparing for a possible renewed confrontation with Iran or a rapid deterioration in the regional security situation. The preparations reportedly include examining potential military operations and targets inside Iran, alongside continued coordination with U.S Central Command over possible Iranian missile attacks.
The reported arrival of additional U.S troops and aircraft could therefore further increase the military presence surrounding the Israeli occupation and Iran, raising concerns that ongoing tensions could develop into a broader confrontation across West Asia.
