Heavy rain flooded tents sheltering displaced Palestinians in Gaza City, leaving families struggling to clear water from their makeshift shelters as they face a third winter of displacement following Israeli occupation genocide in Gaza.
Footage from the area showed rainwater pooling inside tents, soaking mattresses, blankets, and the few belongings families had managed to save. Women and children were seen using buckets to scoop water out, while others tried to reinforce tent edges with sand and plastic sheets.
Many of the displaced families have been living in overcrowded tent camps for months after their homes were destroyed by Israeli occupation bombardment. With no proper drainage, no solid flooring, and limited access to waterproof materials.
Residents said the cold, wet conditions have made life unbearable, especially for children, the elderly, and the sick. With winter approaching, families fear that repeated storms will bring disease, worsening health conditions, and further suffering.
Aid agencies have repeatedly warned that hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians in Gaza lack adequate shelter, winter clothing, and heating, as Israeli occupation continues to restrict the entry of essential supplies.
As Gaza enters its third winter of displacement, Palestinians say the flooding is yet another reminder of the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe caused by Israel’s genocidal war, with families forced to endure rain, cold, and hunger in tents that offer little protection.
