More than 40 million people have taken part in the week-long funeral procession for the late Supreme Leader, Imam Syed Ali Khamenei, making it the largest public funeral gathering ever recorded in history. A massive sea of people filled the streets, drawing millions of mourners from across Iran and the wider region to honor the leader following his martyrdom by the America and Israeli Occupation.

The historic funeral procession crossed borders and moved through multiple major cities across both Iran and Iraq, bringing vast crowds into the streets of Tehran, Qom, Najaf, and Karbala. The ceremonies included funeral prayers, public processions, and official state commemorations attended by senior political, military, and religious leaders from across the region.

Images from the scene showed endless crowds carrying flags, black mourning banners, and red banners symbolizing a collective, powerful demand for vengeance. Loud religious chants and tributes echoed without stop throughout the entire week of ceremonies.

This massive public honoring followed months of delays, which officials attributed to the volatile security conditions surrounding the recent US-Israeli war. Despite the long delay, the historic turnout was used by authorities to show absolute national unity and state stability to the world.

To manage the millions of people, authorities set up extensive security measures, deploying security forces, restricting access to key areas, and increasing surveillance to prevent any attacks during the ceremonies.

The scale of the funeral reflected Imam Syed Ali Khamenei’s deep political and religious influence, with the week-long mourning period officially closing with a final burial ceremony at the sacred Imam Reza Shrine in his hometown of Mashhad.
