The regular Iranian Army (Artesh) has launched a targeted drone attack against US military installations at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, directly striking a deployment site for F/A-18 fighter jets.
In an official military announcement, the Artesh confirmed that its forces deployed one-way attack drones to target the airbase, claiming to have struck flight lines hosting US F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jets, a large equipment hangar, and an accommodation building housing US personnel.
Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, located near Azraq in eastern Jordan, serves as a crucial forward hub for US Central Command (CENTCOM) strike operations in the region. The base currently hosts a dense concentration of advanced coalition airpower, making it a primary target for regional forces looking to degrade American tactical capabilities.
Iranian military command framed the operation as a direct response to recent US-led airstrikes and ongoing military interventions across the region. The Artesh leadership emphasized that they will continue to target coalition logistics and strike platforms as long as foreign forces maintain their aggressive posture in West Asia.
While Iranian state media claimed the drones bypassed defensive grids to score direct hits, Jordanian and coalition officials presented a contrasting account. Jordanian military sources confirmed that their air defense networks actively engaged and intercepted several hostile aerial targets crossing into their airspace, though they did not release official reports regarding casualties or damage.
The strike marks a sharp escalation in the regional confrontation, with analysts warning that continued attacks on critical military installations could draw neighboring countries deeper into the conflict and further disrupt diplomatic efforts.
