Gaza City – The Israeli military on Friday struck Mushta Tower, a residential building in western Gaza that sheltered hundreds of displaced Palestinians. The attack damaged multiple floors and spread smoke across one of the city’s most overcrowded districts. Local sources confirmed this is the fourth time the building has been targeted since Israel’s campaign began on October 7, 2023.
The strike occurred near Kteiba Camp, Gaza’s largest displacement center, and close to university campuses now covered in tents. Western Gaza today hosts nearly one million displaced residents, most of them women and children fleeing the destruction of northern areas.
Rights groups say repeated bombing of civilian shelters reflects a pattern of collective punishment rather than military necessity. With homes, hospitals, and universities consistently struck, critics argue Israel’s actions aim to make Gaza permanently unlivable.
Washington and London continue to shield Israel diplomatically while providing arms, despite widespread evidence of civilian suffering. Arab governments, meanwhile, condemn the attacks in statements but maintain trade and security ties with Tel Aviv – an inconsistency many Muslims see as betrayal of the Qur’anic command to stand against injustice.
The humanitarian toll is immense: families once again displaced, civilians killed or injured, and overcrowded camps pushed beyond capacity. Islamic and international principles alike forbid harm to innocents, yet Gaza’s shelters remain under fire.
Mushta Tower now lies in ruins, another home erased. The question remains whether the global community including Muslim states will continue to look away, or finally confront what many call one of the gravest injustices of this century.
