An Israeli occupation official was filmed taking notes as delegates from nearly 70 countries staged a mass walkout during Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address at the UN General Assembly, leaving rows of empty seats in the chamber. The footage shows the official continuing to write while large sections of the hall emptied, as Netanyahu attempted to begin his speech to a largely vacant audience. The scene quickly circulated online as a stark visual of the diplomatic isolation facing the Israeli occupation.
The coordinated walkout began the moment Netanyahu took the podium, with delegations including those from Iran, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, Tunisia and Indonesia among those leaving the hall. Participants described the action as a symbolic rejection of the Israeli occupation’s ongoing genocide in Gaza and its policies in the occupied territories, amid growing international calls for a ceasefire and accountability.
