The United States has deployed a third aircraft carrier to the Arabian Gulf, marking the largest American naval presence in the region in more than 20 years, according to military officials and tracking data.

The USS George H.W. Bush has entered the US Central Command area of responsibility, joining two other carriers already operating in or near West Asian waters. The deployment comes as tensions remain high amid ongoing hostilities involving Iran and continued concerns over security in key maritime routes.

US Central Command confirmed the carrier’s arrival in a public statement, describing its movement as part of routine force operations. Officials did not provide details on its specific mission or duration of deployment, citing operational security.

The presence of three aircraft carriers simultaneously is rare and has not been recorded in the region at this scale in over two decades.

The USS George H.W. Bush, a Nimitz class nuclear powered aircraft carrier commissioned in 2009, can carry more than 80 aircraft and has a crew of over 5,000 sailors and air personnel. It joins other carriers that have been operating in the area for extended periods due to ongoing regional security concerns.

The development comes as US President Donald Trump declined to give a timeline for ending the conflict with Iran, telling reporters that decisions on next steps would not be rushed.

Military officials have not confirmed whether the carrier is reinforcing existing strike groups or replacing another vessel. Fleet movements suggest a continued high level of US naval activity in the region as operations continue.
